Much has been written over the years about the perfect way to boil the humble egg so here is Harry's preferred method.
What you need:
- An Egg
- Saucepan
- A spoon
- Water
- A Timer
Harry's Method for cooking a Soft boiled egg (Runny Yolk)
- Get a small saucepan and fill it with water enough to cover the egg when submerged.
- Bring the water up to boil (Be careful with boiling water!)
- Gently lower the egg into the water using the spoon slowly so you don't crack it.
- Turn the heat down to just a simmer
- Start your timer when 3 minutes has passed take your egg out of the water.
- Leave to cool for a few moments then serve.
To make your egg harder in the middle wait for 4 minutes, everyone is different with how they like their eggs so experiment with different timings between 3 to 4 minutes until you find what works for you.
Eggstra tips!
- If you have a pin put a very small hole at the top of the Egg this will stop it from cracking as it cooks
- If your eggs are strait from the fridge warm them up for a few minutes in warm water, again helps prevent them cracking
- Marmite soldiers (Toast, butter, Marmite spread) rocks with a runny egg
